Cyberdefender

#1 Been using CyberDefender for 3 months now, caught some trojans and malware.

#2 Don't know, but it installed quick and I don't think it takes much room.

#3 Scan takes about 20 minutes to fullly scan my 200GB drive

#4 Tells me almost everyday that got an update.

#5 I like the 2GB of back-up and 24/7 support for the paid version. Also Cyberdefender is a NASDAQ company so the have some accountability.

#6 Yeah, my system got hammered by some evil virus trojan thingy, and it was bad. My poor lovable h0m8-systim, it really took over the browser and had some word problems.

First I tried PC Tools, which found some stuff, and thought it was OK, but still had browser and word problems. So I tried Cyberdefender, and it found even more stuff. Afterwards my system worked ok.

I like that it looks for trojans, malware and sypware - not just viruses. I liked it enough, that I paid for the upgrade, cuz I wanted the back-up, and the ability to contact someone at Cyberdefender who will answer any of my (or my sons) questions.

# 7 No help with free version, but the paid version comes with 24/7 help for ANY computer problem - now that is great, my wife used it while I was away and the computer had a problem, they fixed it no problem.

# 8 Came with a MyIdentityDefender toolbar which help identify phishing and other scams, I like it and find it usefull.

Oh,

PC Tools Free Edition Antivirus Software
You can Download from my Website PC Security at Home.
http://www.pcsecurityathome.com/node/9

1. Used PC Tools products in the past and liked them.

2. Installed uses 30mb of disk space and when running uses 23mb on Ram.

3. Intelli-scan took 11 seconds and full scan in 18 minutes on a 16G hard drive.

4. Seems to keep the virus data files updated frequently?

5. One thing I have like about PC Tools products in the easy to use interface.

6. So far no Viruses to detect or removed.

7. Help and Support, no support for free version.

8. I wish the free toolbars were not installed by default, how many toolbars do we need?

I've been using Symantec's Norton Anti Virus for over 3 years. I've not been infected with any viruses within that time. I'm also very cautious when I surf - I learned my lesson, the hard way, back in 2000.

Antivirus Software is like enjin for your car. The more you use the car the more it depends on the oil. I myself has in the past 10 years never really been affected by any kind of computer virus.

I have been using AVG 8 and I have been really keen on promoting their software. I have a huge interest looking into nod32 as they are reported to be the champs of all antivirus software competitors but they do not have a free version.

I agree on AVG being great. Having AVG8 installed all you still need to do is to stay clear of risky browsing and keeping your copy of AVG antivirus software updated.

I have for several years and I have had very little problems with viruses.

I also use this online scan from time to time or if I think I have a virus and AntiVir is not detecting it properly which is from http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Hi Edie

I checked it out for you and this is what I have found.

Check out this website http://free1.grisoft.com/ww.news.ndi-93837

This is what I understand from the website is that AVG Free 8.0 does not include any "trial" or "time-out" functionality so the email scanning shouldn't be a issue.

Also if you would like to see the differences between the free and paid version go here http://free1.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition

Also I have personally checked out AVG Antivirus 8.0(free adition) and don't see anything that says it has only 30 days.

I am huge fan of AVG Free 7.5. I've been reading some negative reviews of 8.0 Free on CNET saying that email scanning is only good for 30 days. Have you experienced this? Not sure if I want to upgrade from 7.5 to 8.0 now.

AVG Antivirus/Spyware Free Version 8
You can Download from my Website PC Security at Home.
http://www.pcsecurityathome.com/node/9

Question 1:

I have been using AVG Antivirus software 7.5 and now the new version 8 for around a year now.

Question 2:

AVG Antivirus/Spyware Free Version 8, Downloaded 45.6mb file and installed the application used 29.6 mb after all updates. Running the application used 80mb of memory.

Question 3:

AVG Antivirus/Spyware Free Version 8, Full Scan took 18 minutes. This was on a Dual Core 2.2Ghz Workstation. Sata II Hard Drives. Now of course theses times will change with the amount of data and software you have installed. This was tested on a clean installation of Windows XP Pro.

AVG Antivirus/Spyware Free Version 8, On a Toshiba Satellite Notebook, Duo Core 1.6Ghz 2G ram and a 160G hard drive, 30G space used on hard drive. Perform Full Scan took 20.19 minutes.

Question 4:

AVG Antivirus/Spyware Free Edition 8, Checks every day for updates.

Question 5:

AVG Antivirus/Spyware, To run a scan, Double click on the AVG Icon in the task bar , then click on Computer Scanner, click on Scan whole computer and let it check out your whole system.

Question 6:

Run the new AVG Antivirus/Spyware Free Version 8 and it found 78 Tracking Spyware Cookies.

Question 7:

Haven’t needed to contact support on any of theses products.

Question 8:

AVG Antivirus/Spyware, Check here for the difference between the free and Pro Versions, <a href="http://www.grisoft.com/ww.home-and-office-security"target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.grisoft.com/ww.home-and-office-security

Usually I try and run the Antivirus utility every couple of weeks or more often if I see something strange with my computer.
